Colin Berg Joins Morrell Targets and Archers USA as National Youth Development Director

Alma, AR – February 4, 2025

Morrell Targets and Archers USA are thrilled to announce the appointment of Colin Berg as the new National Youth Development Director as of January 1, 2025. Colin brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record in outdoor education and youth development, making him an invaluable addition to our team.

Colin recently retired in October 2024 after a distinguished career spanning 31 and a half years with the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation (ODWC). During his tenure, he served 26 years as the Communication and Education Supervisor, where he played a pivotal role in transforming the agency’s education programs.

Career Highlights:

  • Led introductory fishing programs for 500,000 Oklahomans and certified 260,000 future hunters through hunter education programs.
  • Introduced the National Archery in Schools Program in 2004, providing equipment grants to over 750 schools.
  • Developed an Oklahoma-specific Hunter Education Curriculum, leading to significant cost savings and the creation of an online-only course in 2010.
  • Integrated the ATA Explore Bowhunting and Explore Bowfishing programs into Oklahoma’s outdoor education suite, benefiting over 400 schools.
  • Secured over $4 million in funds for the Oklahoma Scholastic Shooting Sports Program through a grant from Larry and Brenda Potterfield, expanding the program to over 250 high schools.
  • Developed the Oklahoma Fishing in Schools curriculum and equipment kits, now implemented in over 500 schools.
  • Introduced the Archers Varsity Archery program, engaging over 100 schools.
  • Oversaw three ATA Community Archery Park Projects and facilitated the construction of additional parks by the Cherokee Nation.
  • Managed the shooting range development program, including the addition of archery towers.
  • Secured a $250,000 grant from the Easton Foundation to construct an archery training center at the ODWC Arcadia Conservation Education Area.

Colin holds a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies (1988) and a Master’s degree in Education (1995), both from Southern Nazarene University. He is also a proud father to his son, Preston, who works for Scheels Outdoor Stores in Tulsa.
