What is Field Archery?
Field archery is an exciting outdoor discipline that challenges archers to shoot at targets set at varying distances, angles, and terrain types. Unlike target archery, which is done on a flat range, field archery courses are designed to simulate real-world hunting conditions, making it both a recreational and competitive sport.
What is Field Archery?
Field archery takes place in natural environments such as forests, hills, and open fields. Archers walk a marked course, shooting at targets placed at different elevations and distances, often with uneven footing. This makes it an excellent way to develop accuracy, adaptability, and shooting skills in real-world scenarios.
Types of Field Archery Rounds
-
-
Field Round – Targets are placed at marked distances (up to 80 yards) with black and white rings for scoring.
-
Hunter Round – Similar to the Field Round but with unmarked distances and all-black targets with a white center.
-
Animal Round – Uses life-sized animal targets with varying scoring zones, mimicking bowhunting scenarios.
